Historical Journey

Its colonial architecture, colorful facades and brick-paved alleyways are where the cultural foundations of modern Panama City were shaped and formed. Walk or cycle through the historic streets to the Canal Museum. Here you’ll discover the incredible feats of civil engineering behind one of the eight modern wonders of the world. The great symbol of Panamanian culture is the mola, the richly embroidered panels created by Kuna women using the complex and difficult reverse appliqué technique. The delightfully compact Mola Museum is filled with amazing colorful examples and its always-helpful staff will show you not only how molas are made, but also what they mean. There’s more than you think to these beautiful pieces of embroidery. Finish your day’s exploring on our cool rooftop with a refreshing tropical cocktail from the Kaandela Bar.
